Local artists have been opening up their works this summer as part of Art in Dunchurch, under the banner of Warwickshire Open Studios.
Stolen horse trailers and motorhome recovered in Rugby
23rd June 2022
Two Ifor Williams Horse Trailers that had been stolen from South Warwickshire, were found by the Rural Crime Team following a report from a member of the public. The stolen motorhome had been taken from the West Midlands and was also found by the Rural Crime Team with officers from Response and OPU.
Princethorpe rated excellent in inspection

A recent report by the Independent Schools Inspectorate awarded ‘excellent’ ratings across all criteria for Princethorpe College. Pupil achievement and personal development were highlights of the college's report.
Sleepwalker sings into Rugby this July

The next production from Cawston's Random Opera Company is coming this July with Bellini’s La Sonnambula. Rarely performed in the UK, it will be the first live UK production of this opera in more than 10 years.
Cawston 10-home development on the agenda for tomorrow's parish council

Cawston residents were set to discuss the controversial planning application for 10 homes off Heritage Close at their parish council meeting. Concerns have been raised that the land was originally earmarked for community use, rather than residential use.
Shuckburgh event raises £23,000 for farming charity

A clay-shooting event held on the Warwickshire-Northamptonshire border raised more than £23,000 for a charity which supports farmers.
Art in Dunchurch starts tomorrow

Green garden waste and trade waste collections today, Thursday 23rd June: Rugby Borough Council has warned that “due to staff illness, green garden waste collections in and around Dunchurch, Broadwell, Draycote, Birdingbury, Willoughby, Woolscott, Wolfhampcote, Flecknoe, Frankton, Grandborough, Kites Hardwick, Princethorpe, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, and Stretton-on-Dunsmore will be disrupted today. Trade waste collections are also affected.
Please leave your bin out for collection. We aim to collect your bin as soon as possible.”
Warwickshire County Council has opened a consultation on sexual health services in Coventry and Warwickshire. The purpose of the survey is to understand people's needs and experiences of the sexual health service. It will help to shape the future service delivery, helping people achieve and maintain positive sexual and reproductive health. You can complete the survey either online or on paper. The consultation is open until 26th June 2022.
Warwickshire Library & Information Service is looking for young people aged 13-19 who can volunteer for 10-15 hours during the summer holidays. The young volunteers will help Warwickshire Libraries to run their annual Summer Reading Challenge for children aged 4-11, by encouraging children to take part in the challenge, chatting to them about books and reading, updating records and giving incentives, as well as motivating them to keep reading and complete the Summer Reading Challenge. If you love books and are comfortable chatting with younger children about their reading, then this is the role for you! Apply online before Monday 27th June 2022.
Covid-19 figures for Rugby: slight drop in cases
For the week up to 22nd June 2022:
18 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -10% compared to the previous 7 days.
1 death within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.
87,045 people had received one dose of the vaccination; 83,421 had received two doses; and 66,967 had had a booster or third dose. That’s 82%, 78.6% and 63.1% of the total population aged 12+.

In Rugby, the walk-in site is at Brownsover Community Centre on Fridays from 9.15am to 5.30pm and Saturdays from 9.15am to 4.30pm (age 16+ only). In addition to the drop-in clinic, you can book a jab on the NHS website.

Draycote Running Festival: The next race is on Saturday 30th July 2022 from 10am. Sign up now to run a 5k, 10k or half marathon at the Draycote Running Festival. The race is a great way to burn some calories whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery that Draycote has to offer. The course is a gently undulating loop around the reservoir. All on tarmac, with great views the whole way round.
