Covid-19 figures for Rugby

Thousands of people received booster or third jabs in the last week. And while cases are still rising in Rugby, the infection rate is slightly lower than the average for England.

MP for Rugby Mark Pawsey said: “The vaccine remains our best defence against serious illness from Covid-19 and the evidence shows that getting your booster jab will help to protect you against all variants, including omicron. I am urging everyone who is eligible to come forward and get their jab as soon as they can. The walk-in clinics are a good opportunity for people to drop by when they have the time, or you can book an appointment on the NHS website.

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank, on behalf of all local residents, our GPs, pharmacists and volunteers who will be working tirelessly over the Christmas break to help get these jabs out. They have done an incredible job over the last 12 months with the UK administering over 25 million booster jabs already, but there remains more work to do.”

For the week up to 19th December 2021:

  • 811 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 221 people (37.5%) compared with the previous seven days.

  • 1 death within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.

  • 84,886 people had received one dose of the vaccination; 78,431 had received two doses; and 51,943 had had a booster or third dose. That’s 80.8%, 74.7% and 49.4% of the total population aged 12+.

  • The estimated R number for the Midlands as of 17th December 2021 is 0.9-1.1.

Book a vaccine online or attend a drop-in clinic

In Rugby, the walk-in sites are at Locke House at The Railings, and at Hillmorton’s Ex-Serviceman’s Club on High Street in Hillmorton. In addition to the walk-in clinics, you can book a jab on the NHS website.

Locke House is open Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm, and on Saturdays between 8am and 5pm and on Sundays between 8am and 2pm for walk-in clinics. You can also book an appointment by calling 119.

The Hillmorton Ex-Servicemen’s Club is doing walk-in clinics from Saturday 18 December to Thursday 23rd December, between 9am and 6pm and then from Saturday 26th December to Thursday 30 December between 9am and 6pm. On New Years Eve (Friday 31 December) the Club will be open between 9am and 5pm and then reopens in the new year on Sunday 2 January until Sunday 9 January 2022, between 9am and 6pm.

Both sites will be offering booster jabs for all eligible patients as well as first and second doses for over 16s. To be eligible for a booster jab, people must have had their second dose at least three months ago.
