Tanks, Trucks and Firepower is on for 2021

The organisers of Tanks, Trucks and Firepower confirmed at the weekend that they are planning to run the festival again this August bank holiday.

Self-titled the ‘loudest family day out’, the annual show features tank stunts, car crushing and tank gun firing.

Allotments have been 'salvation' this year

In 1661 King Charles II gave land for the poor of Bilton parish, by decree of the High Court of Chancery.

Almost 360 years later and those lands are still being put to good use as allotments.

We talked to Pauline Spriggett, manager of the Bilton Poor Land Allotment Association, to find out more.

Covid-19 figures for Rugby

For the week up to 11th March:

  • 91 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of 3.2% compared with the previous seven days.

  • 2 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of 33.3% compared with the previous seven days.

  • The estimated R number for the Midlands is 0.7 to 0.9. That’s a change of  -5% to -3% as of 5th March 2021.

Wildlife walks

If you go down to the woods today (Cock Robin Wood, that is), look out for frogspawn in the ponds. It won’t be long before the waters are teeming with tiny tadpoles and leaping little frogs.

Dream

The RSC’s technological, mystical reinterpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream starts today and runs until 20th March. Tickets are free/£10. Dream.online

Saturdads

All Dads, Grandads, male carers and their children are invited to a Zoom coffee morning at 10am. It’s hosted by two of Barnardo’s volunteers, Gavin and Dylan, and is designed to give Dads, Grandads and male carers the chance to chat, seek advice and share the highs and lows of parenting.

There are further Saturdads sessions on 27th March and 10th and 24th April.
