We couldn’t help noticing that we all received replacement polling cards earlier this month.

I know I’m no sleuth but I couldn’t spot the difference.

SRN asked Rugby Borough Council to explain why they were sent out and who’s going to pay for them.

A spokesman for Rugby Borough Council said: “55,000 replacement poll cards were issued in the borough following a minor transposition error during the printing process. Following discussions with the Electoral Commission, the Returning Officer took the decision to issue replacement cards in order to avoid potential confusion.

“The authorities holding elections, in this case Rugby Borough Council, Warwickshire County Council and the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner, have responsibility for election expenses.”

This means they’ll be splitting the bill, when the total cost is finalised. Parish councils were unaffected.
