Planning permission has been granted for wooden stables, a tackroom or store and parking for a horsebox on land at Halfway Lane in Dunchurch.
Permission was given at Rugby Borough Council’s planning meeting on 6 January 2021.
Hedgehogs and bats need to be protected from harm during the building, says the meeting report. Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017.
This means that bats, birds and other nocturnal animals should always be taken into account when lighting is being planned.
What’s more, if any hedgehogs are found during the building works then that work has to stop until Warwickshire County Council Ecological Services are contacted.
