Keep windows and doors shut while fire burns at Ling Hall landfill site
It's the second fire in a fortnight at the site on Coalpit Lane
A FIRE at the Ling Hall landfill site today (8th December 2021) has been generating large amounts of smoke.
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue have been tackling the blaze at the site in Lawford Heath.
The fire service has advised all residents to keep windows and doors shut while they deal with the fire.
Ling Hall landfill site on Coalpit Lane is operated by Veolia and accepts 500,000 tonnes of waste each year.
A spokesperson from Veolia at Ling Hall told South Rugby News at 1.52pm on 8th December the fire was being dealt with.
The fire service responded to another fire at the same site on 28th November 2021.
A spokesperson from Veolia later told SRN: “On Tuesday 8th December a fire broke out at our Ling Hall landfill site in Warwickshire. Staff acted quickly in line with our procedures to keep everyone safe, the emergency services are on the scene and the fire is contained and under control. The safety of our staff and members of the public in the local area is our priority and the cause of the fire is the subject of an ongoing investigation. The site will remain closed until further notice."
We’ve asked the Fire Service for more information about the fire.
