NOMINATIONS are still open for the most outstanding staff and volunteers across the NHS University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Trust - and that includes the Hospital of St Cross.

The Trust’s Outstanding Service and Care Awards (OSCAs) are designed to honour those people serving the community with compassion, openness, pride and respect.

Willy Goldschmidt, Chairman of the Friends of St Cross, wrote: “This year there are ten categories open for consideration, celebrating our rising stars, educators, leaders and volunteers, as well as those going the extra mile in clinical and non-clinical settings. The Trust [is] also recognising teams and individuals showing a flare for innovation and ideas and supporting equality and diversity.

“Patients and their loved ones will be invited to show their appreciation for shining stars who provide exceptional care and service through our People's Choice Award while the Chief Executive Award is for outstanding individuals and teams that demonstrate our values in everything they do.”

The deadline for nominations is 31st August 2021.

The nominations will be judged according to how the person or team meets the Trust’s values of compassion, improvement, learning, openness, pride, partnership and respect.

Celebrating St Cross’s volunteers

Mr Goldschmidt went on to write: “This has been a year like no other and yet we have achieved so much thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters!

“We have recruited over 50 new volunteers and are now delivering more hours of voluntary support in the hospital than we did before the pandemic struck! We have requests for more assistance and look forward to welcoming back many of our volunteers who understandably stood down last year!

“We could not have achieved so much without the generosity of our supporters and I am delighted to say that our Sapphire Anniversary Appeal has already raised over £48,000 (including Gift Aid) setting us well on the way to raising our target of at least £65,000 by the end of the year!”
