OLD Laurentian RFC is hosting a charity game against Warwickshire Police on Saturday 12th March 2022 to raise funds for life-changing therapy for three-year-old Ronnie Shore.
Ronnie’s dad is an ex-OLs player and a serving police officer.
Ronnie was born at 28 weeks but suffered a brain injury and cysts, which left holes in his brain. He was later diagnosed with bilateral cystic PVL which evolved into cerebral palsy.
OL RFC wrote: “Fast forward to 2022 and Ronnie is a beautiful smiley little boy. Ronnie's CP affects all four of his limbs. He also suffers from epilepsy and a cortical visual impairment. Ronnie cannot roll unaided, sit, crawl or walk. Ronnie's capacity to speak is affected and he has swallowing difficulties. Ronnie is totally reliant on family for everything.”
He receives NHS physiotherapy and speech and language therapy, but the help Ronnie needs exceeds what the NHS and his parents can offer.
The OL RFC went on to write: “This remarkable boy is improving lots and has so much potential but it's just a case of unlocking it. Early intervention is key whilst Ronnie is little so that new neuro pathways can be built to learn new skills such as sitting, crawling and potentially walking in the future. As he gets bigger, his body will give up on that potential so therapies now are vital for Ronnie to help live a full life!
”Ronnie is the most amazing little soul! The sky is the limit for this fighter and helping Remarkable Ronnie to reach his potential would be the most immense gift his family could ever give him!”
Kick off is at 2.15pm at Lime Tree Avenue Bilton Rugby CV22 7QT. To donate, visit the Just Giving page.
There will be a guard of honour from the OLMJ micros and U6's, and the match will be followed by the Six Nations 'England v Ireland' in the bar.
