Allotments have been 'salvation' this year
Almost 360 years after land was given for the poor of Bilton parish, the allotments are still making a difference
In 1661 King Charles II gave land for the poor of Bilton parish, by decree of the High Court of Chancery.
Almost 360 years later and those lands are still being put to good use as allotments.
“A lot of people said it had been their salvation this year,” said Bilton Poor Lands Allotment Association manager Pauline Spriggett.
